Dr Murray Orr is passionate about learning, excellence, creativity and relationship. While studying at dental school, he realised that the practical demands of the course were disproportionate to the opportunities available for students. Despite going to 20+ hours of lectures per week students barely received 3 hours in the simulation lab – and this was what students needed the MOST time for!

Something had to change. 

Enter StuDental. In 2010, Murray (while studying) brought the first affordable, quiet complete simulator packages to the Australian market for dental students – complete with a 12 month warranty. Finally dental students could practice at home to achieve the excellence they were use to in their accademic studies.

Now, in addition to running StuDental Dr Murray Orr owns a thriving dental clinic in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast with 4 dentists and 1 oral health therapist. Advanced Laser and CEREC technologies are a major part of his regular clinical practice, with his focus is on achieving patient centred outcomes by integrating all aspects of one's health journey and his personal pursuit of clinical excellence at every stage.

Dr Murray believes that intrinsic motivation based on small observed successes as a student gave him confidence and enjoyment in dentistry very early on in his study. He now lectures for student unions and consults privately for dental clinics throughout Australia looking to master CAD CAM dental technologies and improve team culture and productivity.
